Cat & Dog First Aid and CPCR Certification
Ages 16 & Up
Ideal for Pet Professionals and Pet Parents who want to be ready for every situation. In this 7-hour Pet First-Aid & CPCR Workshop, you will learn the latest techniques through demonstration, lecture and hands-on skills practice.
Class includes:
75 page Pet First Aid and CPR Quick Reference book, items needed for the hands-on portion, 6 hours of instruction certificate of class completion. Persons in the pet services profession will receive a badge upon request to display on their website and for use on social media.
**participants will need a stuffed animal to practice bandaging, rescue breathing and figure 8 harnesses.

Whether you’re a pet owner or a pet lover, knowing how to respond in an emergency can make all the difference. This class is also an excellent refresher course for pet professionals, helping you keep your skills sharp and up-to-date.
Cost: $35 Per Person
Class Includes a 75-page reference book, items needed for the hands-on portion, 2 hours of instruction certificate of class completion.

In collaboration with local rescues, we offer these classes as a fundraiser to support their noble work. Additionally, pet businesses can enjoy a discount for groups of three or more registrations.

Class Cancellation Policy
Thank you for being interested in our Pet First Aid Classes! These sessions are a great way to gain valuable skills while supporting local pet nonprofits.
Please note:

Space is limited, and payment in full is required to reserve your spot.

A registration fee is included and is non-refundable, as it is donated directly to the pet nonprofit organization the class supports.

$25 for the Certification Course

$10 for all other class types

If you need to cancel, please notify us at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the class will receive a refund minus the registration fee which is donated to the shelter or rescue hosting the class.

About your Presenter:
Jennifer is a lifelong Newport News resident whose love for animals began in childhood and grew through her early work with Value Pet, where she eventually managed the Fort Eustis location. Over the years, she has cared for a wide variety of pets—from cats and small animals to freshwater and saltwater aquariums. In 2017, she adopted Hot Sauce, a Dachshund mix from Saver of Souls Rescue, who quickly became the center of her world.
In 2013, after the loss of her beloved cat Raja, Jennifer founded Critter Sitters and More, LLC to provide the kind of attentive, professional pet care she wished she’d had during Raja’s illness. She grew the company into a trusted, community‑focused service and launched the Peninsula Pups Dog Walking Club in 2021(Now Peninsula Pups WAGventures to bring dog lovers together and support local rescues.
In 2025, Jennifer sold Critter Sitters and More to a new owner who shares her commitment to compassionate, high‑quality pet care. She continues to stay active in the pet community through education, outreach, and her monthly podcast, Did Fido Poop Today?
Jennifer is a Certified Professional Pet Sitter, a Fear Free Certified professional, and a Pet First Aid & CPCR Instructor through Denise Fleck, the “Pet Safety Crusader.”
